Our Services

Installation

We can install any type or brand of audio/video products, regardless of age.  We’ll perform the set up based on your individual needs and vision of use.  We’ll make sure to integrate your new and existing equipment.  Calibrating for optimum sound and picture, with a heavy emphasis on user-friendly operations.

Instruction

When you need help operating your equipment, forget owner’s manuals; and don’t waste your time waiting on hold hoping to get a fairly competent support representative.  During your training you will not be rushed, and we’ll work at your comfort level.   You’ll be running your equipment like a pro in no time!

Sales

The Hook Up offers sales of new electronic equipment.  We can be very competitive with retail stores and internet resellers.  You can avoid the worry of shipping damage and having warranties and expensive cables forced upon you.  Our product line is based upon quality name products with good histories of reliability.

Remote Programming

After your products are installed, your remote(s) situation will be evaluated.  We’ll try to get you down the least number of remotes possible to run your system.  That is possible using the pre-programmed and learning functions of your existing remotes.  If you’d like just one master remote, that is possible too.  We’ll help you choose the right remote, program it and teach you how to use it.

Trouble Shooting

Have an existing system but you have a problem or do not think it is working correctly?  We can help.  We can evaluate your system making sure it is calibrated for maximum performance. No problem is too small, even if it’s just recording with a VCR or learning to use a DVD for the first time.   The Hook Up is designed to be affordable and available for anyone to utilize.

Re-Wires & Upgrades

Ready for some serious performance?  Your system wiring can be evaluated and recommendations can be made to kick-up the performance.  Better quality wiring and cables can mean the difference between good picture and sound to great picture and sound.  If you’re paying for digital, HD cable or satellite services and you’re watching TV on channel 3 or 4 you’re not benefiting from paying for a high-resolution service.  A simple wire upgrade could mean a substantially better picture.

Who We Are

The Hook Up was started in 2003 by Alan Brown to provide residents of the Phoenix area with an affordable and high-quality in-home technical support option for their home electronics.  After working in traditional phone tech support for several years, Alan realized customers didn’t care for the long hold times, and with overseas outsourcing, dialect barriers had to be overcome to even begin solving problems or answering questions.

It is very difficult wading through the choices available to consumers when purchasing the correct electronics to meet their needs.  After trying to make sense of all the confusing terminology and brands, it is equally difficult finding competent help in setting up, calibrating and learning how to utilize your new electronics investment.  Retail stores charge very high prices and rarely use their own employees for proper set up.  Subcontractors usually know how to set up the new equipment, but have difficulty integrating the new purchases with existing equipment.

Price-driven customers purchasing from wholesalers like Costco, Sam’s Club or Amazon.com and other various Internet retailers have very few choices, if any, when seeking quality technical support.  The price-conscious consumer is usually left at the mercy of confusing owner’s manuals or the manufacturer’s traditional phone-based technical support.  With the slower economy, most companies have cut their phone support to bare minimums. But now, there’s The Hook Up.

GO GREEN

In 2009, we began The Hook Up Green Initiative, we try whenever possible to carry products that have the least amount of consumer packaging as possible.  (Did you know that most of those high-dollar cables in the retail stores is non-recyclable?) We work with several local recyclers to make sure old and defective equipment doesn’t end end up in our landfills.  I also work with customers when deciding whether repair or replacement is the best option.
